Chanel Red Raffia Mania Shoulder Bag (22K-24K Gold Hardware)

DATING INFORMATION

One signature piece of information is that during this era, Chanel was under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld, who heavily experimented with unique textiles like linen, raffia, denim and woven straw. 

Alongside this, the serial number indicates that the bag was manufactured between 1986 and 1988, given that the number begins with 089 - belonging to the fashion houses' 0-Series. 

CONDITION REPORT

Exterior

The raffia is in pristine, near immaculate condition, with no pulls or snagging. The leather trim that lines the raffia shows minor signs of wear, age reflected, not damaged through use. 

No tarnishing present on the 22K-24K gold hardware. With all interlocked leather free from fraying and damage. Slight rub marks on the internal, where the chain would be worn on the shoulder, but otherwise no other rubbing. 

Interior

One large leather lined compartment in the same fiery red. No rubbing, no deterioration on the leather, which can be typical for Chanel's of this age, but pleased to say there is no fraying or snagging on this vintage piece - a rarity!

Internal zipped security closure, with zip working perfectly.

Pop lock closure functions as intended and is still very much secure.

All internal, gold embossed logo embellishments are legible with no wear or deterioration.
